The action-adventure title Demon Skin tasks you with braving deadly environments and rather large foes.
In the game, you will accept a position with the Order of Wanderers and become an “axe-tossing, realm-crossing, boss-bossing brute” battling hordes of demons and their masters.
As a Wanderer, you must parry incoming strikes, dodge traps, and out-sprint death in hostile worlds. You can even pillage your dead foes to find more weapons to unleash new combos.
During playtime, you will improve your skills by mastering various stances for parrying and finishing moves. You will need to keep an eye on your stamina level and other indicators of your overall physical condition.
You will make use of an extensive skill tree which will allow you to learn new combos and enhance health, stamina, and attack power. This will help you deal with a myriad of enemies such as lizards, golems, spiders, zombies, werewolves, and more as each will require a different approach.
Luckily, you will have a rather large arsenal at your disposal to deal with the monsters, as there will be more than 30 types - but each is only effective against a certain type of enemies. If you prefer, you can use your bare hands, but it’s not as effective. There will be some rare and ancient artifact weapons hidden in the game which can unlock super skills after achieving a certain level, so be on the lookout for those.
In order to become stronger, you will also collect shards of Crystal which will help build up your bone armor and turn you into a fearsome demon.
Expect to traverse landscapes ranging from gloomy environments to icy wastelands, and alongside the monsters you come across during your travels, you will also meet powerful allies.
Developed by Ludus Future, project lead Denis Listov came up with Demon Skin’s plan back in 2014. With no prior development experience, Listov taught himself programming, visual design, and animations during his free time. Since then, the game has transitioned from 2D visuals to 3D models, has switched game engines, seen a setback due to an injury during motion capture, been rebranded, and finally receive Investor Funding.
Demon Skin is coming to PC on 13 April, followed by releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch later this year.
