Speaking with The Washington Post, PlayStation senior art director Yujin Morisawa said the firm wanted a simple looking controller. “Except for special editions, we’ve always used those colors,” said Morisawa. “For the PlayStation 5, we tried to eliminate what was already there. I wanted to simplify it and make it universal. “The shape’s pattern already shows what the button is going to be. You really don’t need a color for the buttons. So I made it one tone.” The result is a rather elegant white design with black trim on the buttons; however, like the DualShock 4, Sony has said the DualSense controller will be available in other colors down the road. PlayStation 5 is out on November 12 or 19 depending on your region. In the meantime, here’s everything you need to know about Sony’s new console. Also, if you missed it, check out our review.
